To promote, support, and enhance the Shasta Public Libraries programs

through resources and partnerships in our community.

ABOUT

The Friends of Shasta County Libraries is a 501(C)3 Non-Profit that supports literacy as a skill set of power in society through the services provided

by the Shasta Public Libraries.

HISTORY

Since 1979, the Friends of Shasta County Libraries (FOSCL) has been an integral part of the Shasta Public Libraries. Our goal is to strengthen our community through literacy and lifelong learning by providing equal access to materials for everyone. We are not only a place to come and read, but we are a center for discovery, creativity, and empowerment and are dedicated to helping our local libraries expand our world through books.

The board of directors for Friends of Shasta County Libraries is dedicated to helping our local libaries expand our world through books, information and services. We are a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Corporation who provides support and resources to the Shasta Public Libraries in Shasta County California.

Voting Member. Two openings. No specific duties, but may fill in as needed. 

Publicity

Voting Member. Knowledge of local media outlets is helpful. Coordinates with SPL Marketing Department to advertise FOSCL events. Helps maintain website.

Membership Chair

Voting Member. Manages renewal notifications, thank you letters, and updates membership files. This position has a training period.

Newsletter Chair

Voting Member. Designs, prints, and distributes the Open Book quarterly newsletter. Training available. 

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Voting Member. Keeps FOSCL bank accounts and pays library invoices. Training available.

Secretary

Voting Member. Keeps and distributes monthly board meeting minutes.

Vice President

Voting Member.  Assists president during board meetings and fills in when needed. 

President

Voting Member.  Serves on Library Citizens Advisory Council meetings (first Wednesday of every month). Writes book reviews and President's message for the Open Book newsletter. Chairs board meetings for FOSCL. 

Bookstore Manager

Voting Member.  Trains and Schedules bookstore volunteers. Selects and prices books for bookstore shelves. With board consent, sets bookstore policy. Knowledge and interest of books is helpful. Training available.
